Malis Restaurant

While we invite our guests to try all of our delicious recipes there are a few that we think are extra special. No trip to Cambodia is complete without trying Fish Amok or our Prahok Ktis using our blend of Kroeung spices.

Fish Amok

Amok Trei (Fish Amok) is probably Cambodia’s best-known dish. Usually made with riverfish, this delicious curry was inspired by Indian culture more than 2000 years ago and is now a national culinary tradition. Steamed in banana leaves, the fish is sweetened with coconut and seasoned with Malis kroeung spices. This delicious dish is best enjoyed with fragrant jasmine rice.

Prahok Ktis

Prahok Ktis is a great introduction to the use of the Cambodian fermented fish ‘prahok’ used in authentic Khmer cuisine. Made with prahok, kroeung, minced pork, pea eggplant, chilli and coconut milk this signature Malis dish is served with fresh crispy vegetables and rice crackers.

Kroeung

Kroeung is a traditional blend of herbs and spices ground together to form a curry paste used in soups, marinades and stuffings. For the Malis Kroeung, our chefs grind numerous fresh ingredients including lemongrass, chilli, turmeric, garlic, shallots and ginger to create a unique and robust base for many of our recipes.
