It’s nearly Khmer New Year, and preparations are gearing up in Siem Reap for the Angkor Sangkran Festival where fun, food and festivities are organised in a large arena in front of the Elephant Terrace in Angkor Thom. Naturally Malis will be taking part with a booth serving a wide selection of delicious Cambodian foods for hungry games-players and curious onlookers.
This year, Sangkran falls over the weekend of 13 and 14 April, marking the end of the harvest being brought in and the dawning of the rainy season. The occasion is always celebrated with a host of games, thanksgiving, family and food.
The Angkor Sangkran Festival will run for four days (13-16 April), with a selection of booths offering local specialties and a lot of hotly contested games playing. It is also being held as a celebration for the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia. For Malis’ part, we are proud to support the Federation by offering a special discount for 120 of the Federation’s members.
